School Spring Fete Sunday, April 15th 2018

Fancy owning something from the personal treasure troves of Daniel O’Donnell or pre loved by Ireland’s most famous architect Dermot Bannon? These are just two of the famous faces who have donated to the St. Mary’s Secondary School monster auction – come along to see what they generously handed over!

SPRING is in the air, and what better way to enjoy the season, than at a fun, family day out at St. Mary’s Secondary School Spring Fete on Sunday, April 15 next?

For one day only, St. Mary’s will transform the Convent Hall to a colourful world to host the fete and monster auction and raffle.

With the auction viewing kicking off from 1pm, and the event itself at 2pm, there is a lengthy list of valuables going under the hammer. Ranging from a holiday for two in Scotland to a Liam Jones painting; crystal; antiques and a range of beautiful hampers and homestyle; potential bidders can view from lunchtime. Can’t stay around for your lot number? Leave a bid and wait for the phone call to find out if you’ve been successful!

The St. Mary’s Secondary School Fete promises something for all the family. Enjoy refreshments while the auction picks up pace; or take a chance at spin the wheel, with some fabulous prizes on offer.

Browse the book stall and find the latest bestseller or relive your childhood with well known classics or pick up something for your home in the bric-a-brac section.

With a lucky dip, face-painting and bargains galore, this event is not to be missed.

Coordinating the school fundraising event, Chairperson of the Parents Association, Cliona Campion said: "We have worked hard preparing this for the last few months and I want to sincerely thank all those who have donated. It will be a great day for the school and the town. The auctioneer for the day is teacher Mr Peter McLoughlin, ably assisted by Mrs Anne Sweeney."

Principal, Mr Robert O’Reilly added: “In light of our successful planning application for our state of the art new school campus, I am very thankful to the Parents Association for all the hard work to date. Hot on the heels of the school musical, ‘Billie’, a sell-out show which saw the Convent Hall transformed to the world of Durham and now, we are challenging ourselves

to transform our school once again into a spring extravaganza. St Mary’s is a fantastic school community but we could not exist without the support of the wider community – sincere thanks to everyone who has supported this event so generously by making donations and a warm welcome to one and all who attend on the day. We can’t wait to meet St Mary’s friends – old and new!”

A fun-filled day for all the family is promised. Come along and join in the craic and colour!

Donations are still being accepted so if you are Spring cleaning and there are items you would like to donate for auction, please contact 087 2335175. Want to bag a bargain, then come along from 2pm on April 15th next. Do your part with a caring heart!
