Rugby has become one of the fastest-growing sports at St. Mary's Secondary School, with students competing successfully in Sevens Rugby, Tag Rugby and Full-Contact Rugby. The sport continues to attract increasing participation across all year groups, with students enjoying opportunities to develop their skills in a fun, inclusive and competitive environment.
St. Mary's has enjoyed considerable success in recent years, winning Connacht Schools Cups at both Junior and Senior level. These achievements reflect the commitment, teamwork and determination of our players and coaches.
Our Senior Rugby Team has also qualified for the prestigious All-Ireland Schools Rugby Blitz, held at the Aviva Stadium, providing students with the opportunity to compete against the best school teams in the country on one of Ireland's most iconic sporting stages.
Many St. Mary's students have progressed to represent Connacht Rugby at underage level, while former students Kayleigh Hopkins and Ailish Quinn have gone on to achieve the honour of representing Ireland at senior international level.
