Soccer has become one of the most successful and popular sports at St. Mary's Secondary School since its introduction to the school's extra-curricular programme. The school currently fields teams at First Year, Under-14, Under-17 and Senior levels, providing students with opportunities to compete, develop their skills and represent the school with pride.
St. Mary's has enjoyed remarkable success in schools' soccer, winning eight Connacht titles and two All-Ireland Championships. These achievements reflect the dedication of our players, coaches and the strong sporting tradition that continues to thrive within the school.
Many of our students have gone on to represent their clubs, counties and provincial teams, while several past pupils have progressed to the highest level of the game. Former students Sarah Rowe and Carol Hegarty, both members of Connacht and All-Ireland winning teams with St. Mary's, went on to represent the Republic of Ireland at senior international level.
Soccer at St. Mary's promotes teamwork, commitment, resilience and sportsmanship while encouraging students to achieve their full potential both on and off the pitch. Our continued success is a testament to the school's commitment to providing outstanding sporting opportunities for all students.
