Active Schools Week

Each year, St. Mary’s Secondary School proudly takes part in Active School Month, a national initiative that encourages schools across Ireland to promote physical activity, participation and healthy lifestyles.

Throughout the month, students are given the opportunity to step outside their usual routines and experience a wide range of exciting physical activities. The programme is designed to encourage every student to get active, try something new, build confidence and enjoy the many benefits of being physically active.

Over the years, Active School Month has included a diverse range of events and experiences, including:

  • Sports Day
  • Nephin Challenge
  • Ziplining
  • Boda Borg Adventure Challenge
  • Surfing
  • Rock Climbing
  • Martial Arts Workshops
  • Modern Dance Workshops

Active School Month is one of the highlights of the school year, bringing energy, fun and teamwork to our school community. Whether students are taking on an outdoor adventure, learning a new skill or competing with their classmates, the programme promotes participation, resilience and wellbeing while creating lasting memories for everyone involved.
