Swimming

Swimming has long been an important part of the sporting programme at St. Mary’s Secondary School, with students regularly representing the school at the Connacht Schools Swimming Championships.

Over the years, St. Mary’s swimmers have enjoyed considerable success, winning individual and relay Connacht titles, with many students progressing to compete at National Schools Swimming Championships. These achievements reflect the talent, dedication and commitment of our swimmers and coaches.

Swimming also forms part of the Physical Education curriculum. All first-year students participate in a swimming module as part of their PE programme, helping them to develop water confidence, improve swimming technique and build lifelong skills that support health, fitness and personal safety.
