At St. Mary’s Secondary School, we are committed to ensuring that every student feels safe, respected and valued. Through our Bí Cineálta approach, we work together to foster a positive school culture where kindness, inclusion and respect are at the heart of everything we do.
We want every member of our school community to know that bullying behaviour is never acceptable and that every concern will be listened to, taken seriously and responded to appropriately.
If a student reports bullying, we will:
- Listen carefully and talk with the student.
- Ask the student what they would like to happen.
- Work together to agree on the next steps.
- Speak with parents where appropriate.
- Meet with the other student(s) involved.
- Communicate with the parents of those involved as part of the support process.
Bullying involves repeated behaviour that intentionally hurts or upsets another person. Online bullying can also have a significant impact, even if a harmful message or post only happens once.
How to Get Help
If you think you are being bullied, or if you are worried about someone else, please tell someone. There are many trusted adults in St. Mary's who are here to listen and help.
