Board of Management
The Board of Management of St. Mary's Secondary School is responsible for the governance of the school and works to ensure that the highest standards of education, care and leadership are maintained for all members of our school community.
The Board is appointed for a three-year term and operates in accordance with the regulations of the Department of Education and Youth and the policies of our trustees, CEIST (Catholic Education – An Irish Schools Trust).
Board Composition
The Board is made up of representatives from across the school community:
- Four nominees of CEIST, one of whom serves as Chairperson.
- Two teacher nominees elected by the teaching staff.
- Two parent nominees elected by the parents of students attending the school.
- The Principal, who serves as Secretary to the Board.
The Board meets regularly throughout the school year, typically once each term or more frequently when required. Members undertake their responsibilities on a voluntary basis and receive comprehensive training to support them in carrying out their important governance role.
Working collaboratively with the Principal and the wider school community, the Board is committed to supporting the mission, values and strategic development of St. Mary's Secondary School, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive in a safe, caring and inclusive environment.
