Sports - Ladies Gaelic Football

Ladies' Gaelic Football is one of the flagship sports at St. Mary's Secondary School, with a proud tradition of participation, achievement and excellence. The school fields teams in the Connacht LGFA Post-Primary Schools Competitions at Under-14, Junior and Senior levels, providing students of all ages and abilities with the opportunity to represent their school.

Our teams consistently compete at the highest level, regularly reaching the latter stages of the Connacht Championships. In recent years, St. Mary's has celebrated the success of winning two Connacht provincial titles, reflecting the dedication and commitment of both our players and coaches.

Many of our students proudly represent Mayo and Sligo at inter-county level across the underage grades, with a significant number progressing to senior inter-county football. Their achievements are a testament to the strength of Gaelic football within the school and the close links we enjoy with local clubs and county teams.

At St. Mary's, Gaelic football promotes not only sporting excellence but also teamwork, resilience, leadership and school pride. Whether competing in championship matches or representing the school in friendly fixtures, our players continue to uphold the values and traditions that make St. Mary's one of the leading girls' Gaelic football schools in Connacht.
